Risky Business
The minute the holidays are over, I begin a countdown to spring. I tire easily of winter, despite a yearly resolve to make the most of it. Last weekend's mild temperatures and slightly longer days had me yearning for something lighter and colorful. Out of my closet I pulled this Zara floral wrap dress that I bought last November when I was in Munich.
It did just the trick. The lightweight fabric and floral print lifted my spirits, while the long sleeves, tights, and booties made it winter appropriate. The flattering v-neck screamed for an accessory, so I paired it with a simple gold necklace. I'm of the opinion that if you wear a bold print, avoid statement jewelry at all costs because the pieces will detract from each other.
Minimalist accents compliment the bold print.
Interesting story about this dress: when I bought it, I actually broke one of my own rules: try a piece on before you buy it. Gasp! It was my second visit to Zara during my Munich trip, the store was crowded, the dressing room line was long, and I was wearing at least 3 layers. I had no desire to strip down under fluorescent lights, exposing a beer belly that was developing after nearly 10 days of drinking, well, beer, to try on something I knew would fit. But Claire, how did you know it would fit?
Heading towards spring
Well do you remember one of the first posts Micro-Closet wrote about dressing to fit your silhouette? In it Hilary and I discussed go-to's that we know will work with our body shapes. One of mine is a wrap dress. I know for a fact that most wrap dress will work on me and that this one would be no different. I've also shopped at Zara enough to know that a small will fit. So after I rifled through the rack and found my size, I skipped the long lines and paid for my purchase. Yes, there was the risk it wouldn't fit, but I felt fairly confident it would. And it did.
