Back to Basics

Back to basics in a simple white tee and denim skirt
As summer winds down and fall approaches, I find myself reaching for my summer wardrobe favorites. There are very few warm days remaining, so I have to get the most out of my most beloved pieces before they go into hibernation for the winter. Recently I have been favoring an outfit they came together unexpectedly in June.
Sandals, panama hat, and gold jewelry compliment this monochromatic look
During a visit home, my mom gifted me an off-white Pendleton t-shirt. I slipped it over my head only intending to try it on but I wore it for the whole weekend. I loved the soft material and relaxed fit. I did not even take it off when I got home and had a closet full of options before me. Instead, I pulled on my black Levi denim skirt and tucked in the front hem of the shirt. No outfit is complete without accessories, so I layered my beloved Edge of Ember pendants and slipped on my go-to Dolce Vita sandals.
This final look came together over a few weeks, but once I found it, it never came off.
Soon I was wearing this outfit everywhere: weekends, date nights, concerts, shopping, even to the office on days when I did not have court. What did I wear before this outfit? I didn’t remember. I didn’t care. When we went to Nelson, BC in July, I wore it two out of the three days we were there. I slipped it on for dinner the first night and added a panama hat to the ensemble, and as we strolled through the town’s evening market, I found the outfits final touch: raw eco jewelry bangles.
Chasing the last warm days in my favorite outfit.
I loved the whole ensemble so much that the next day I wore the same thing: Pendleton t-shirt, denim skirt, sandals, Edge of Ember pendants, bangles, and hat. As I type this it sounds like a lot, but monochromatic look made it look easy and minimal. Shopping that day, one storeowner said to me, “Wow, that’s it, that’s the perfect out.” She was right.
