Never Short on Ideas
Hilary's post inspired me to find some good deals of my own. Thank goodness it's the time when stores clear their stock of summer wears to make room for fall pieces. It took no more than a couple minutes of searching to find some cute summer shorts at deep discount.
I found these cute, ruffled chambray shorts for under $20 at J. Crew Factory. I love the classic chambray fabric with the ruffled waist and pockets. How cute are they? The older I get, the more I look for pieces that will last. I may have purchased these for very little, but I have the expectation they will carry me through the rest of this summer and a couple of more.
I took these babies out for happy hour date night with Brian (who graciously snapped these photos after we stuffed ourselves). While I usually wear a dress for date night, I made these shorts date-appropriate by pairing them with this ruffle tee, heeled sandals, and my Chloe knock-off bag. If you're looking for a quality, no-brand name bag, I recommend the Ainifeel and Actlure lines from Amazon. All bags are made from genuine leather (sorry vegans) and quality material. I love mine!
As you're looking over my outfit, you may be thinking, "Uh, Claire...we've seen this shirt a dozen times on here. Do you own anything else?" Not really. Part of the MicroCloset philosophy is that we wear and re-wear pieces. Both Hilary and I have limited closet space, so each piece counts. I will wear this shirt until it loses shape and needs to be replaced.
And that's what these shorts were: a replacement. When I ordered them, I immediately pulled two pairs out of my closet to donate. I'd had both for a few years; they were older and didn't fit as well anymore. Hilary and I are believers that you get rid of clothes you don't wear or don't fit.
