Tried and True
My weekends look a bit different than before I had my daughter. Before, even when the weather was nice, Sundays would be lazy days spent on the couch watching TV. Now, they're spent outside, going for walks and grabbing lunch at a restaurant. This past Sunday was no exception to this new trend. The warm weather found us taking a walking along a canal nearby and then trying out a new Italian restaurant. Sundays are also different from the rest of the week for me because it's a day I have more than 30 seconds to get dressed while watching my daughter.
This outfit is one I would put into the "tried and true" category of my closet. I did the math and realize these two items of clothing have been in my wardrobe going on 3+ years. The faux wrap pink top is from the brand Philosophy. The nautical shorts, detailed with gold buttons, are from Cynthia Rowley. Both were purchased at TJ Maxx (surprised?).
The pink top is everything I like in a shirt. The collar, tie detail at the bottom and softy breathable fabric make it perfect for warm summer days. Plus, it's a soft shade of pink, which I've come to realize is a staple in my closet without making the conscious effort to do so. There are some colors we are just drawn to, and for me this is true with pink.
As Claire mentioned in her last post, she was repeating the shirt she had on, because, as one of our principles at Micro-Closet is to wear and re-wear pieces. So although you haven't seen me re-wear either of these pieces yet on the blog, you can be sure they've made their share of appearances over the years.
Having tried and true outfits in my wardrobe means getting ready takes a minimal amount of time, a perk for anyone but an added bonus for those of us with small children to look after. Smart purchases can sustain your wardrobe for many seasons, leaving more room in your budget for, let's say a meal out with your family on a warm summer day.
