Layers for Fall
As the weather changed from early fall to much chillier days, I had the dilemma that so rarely happens: I needed to go shopping. When I say need this wasn’t an exaggeration. I had a major gap in my wardrobe. I had cleaned out my wardrobe far more often than replacing items, particularly after having my daughter. My style changed gradually as clothes I wore pre-pregnancy were no longer my taste. So I made a trip to a tried and true store. Any guesses? Why H&M of course.
The camel colored turtleneck was a steal at €14. I wanted a cozy turtleneck as opposed to the thin jersey, tight fit options. Camel is one of my favorite colors for fall as it pairs well with another color staple in my closet: gray. If you’re familiar with our blog, you’ll recognize the gray sweater jacket from a post I wrote last fall at the end of my pregnancy. A year in my wardrobe has proven that this purchase was well worth it. Not only could I wear it while 9 months pregnant, but now 1+ year later.
I’ve paired the jacket and sweater my beloved J Brand gray ankle jeans. The outfit is casual but has a put together finish thanks to the two toned color palate. When wearing a sweater that might is loose fitting, I find it essential to pair it with slim fitting pants in order to not appear too bulky, particularly when adding another layer to the sweater.
A turtleneck is, in my opinion, an essential staple for any autumn wardrobe. Whether it’s cozy or sleek, it’s a piece that transitions from fall to winter seamlessly.
