A Classic Pairing: Flannel and Fall

The season has changed here in Munich. The sun is out almost everyday but there is a chill in the air. The leaves are turning and as the month of October brings the holidays ever closer, there is a quintessential item in my closet that makes an appearance every fall (with the exception of last year as I was 9 months pregnant.)

This black and white flannel shirt from Muji is a fall staple in my wardrobe. The soft fabric makes it comfortable to wear (and easy to chase after my almost one year old.) I’ve paired it here with another wardrobe staple, my Joe’s Jeans and Adidas sneakers.

We’ve all seen the social media posts poking fun of women wearing flannel with their pumpkin spice latte in hand. Despite all the jokes, flannel is a fitting choice for those days that start off chilly and warm up slightly in the sun. It was the perfect choice for picking out a pumpkin at an honesty garden this past weekend outside of Munich.

The button up style is also a win for those nursing mothers out there (such as yours truly.) It provides a classic style which can hold its own among the changing styles every year. This particular color combination goes well with accessories that are silver (although a chaotic morning didn’t allow for me to do this yesterday.)

If you choose to embrace this fall classic, there are countless color options and price ranges. Whether you choose a budget friendly option from H&M, or a higher end version from Nordstrom, you can’t go wrong. It is a versatile Micro-Closet staple.
