The Bump and Bordeaux: Maternity Beachwear

Although summer might be ending for many of us (whether it's a vacation that has come to an end or cooler weather approaching) maternity beachwear deserves a post. Why? Well, partly because it's what I lived in for the past 10 days while on a camping trip to the French Atlantic coast.
This past spring when shopping for maternity wear, I at first thought a maternity swimsuit was superfluous, unnecessary due to how a bikini would still fit. Then, at about 22 weeks pregnant on a long weekend trip to the Adriatic Sea in Italy, I discovered it was time to shelve the bikini for the remainder of my pregnancy and purchased a pink colored one piece from H&M.
Don't forget the sun hat for extra protection!
There are two things I particularly liked about this style of swimsuit. First, the extra coverage provided extra sun protection. The last thing I wanted at 32 weeks pregnant was a sunburn. Second, a one piece provides extra support for the bump.
To pair with this swimsuit, I chose a delightful red beach cover up my mom bought for me from ASOS.
32 weeks and enjoying the sun!
This particular dress has a cross strap back detail. The perk of a swimsuit cover up is that there is no need to struggle with maternity shorts. This dress goes on and off quite seamlessly, a real perk for those of us in the third trimester!
Overall, I had fun both shopping for and wearing maternity beachwear. While not every pregnancy requires these items, they can be purchased inexpensively and can make a huge difference in comfort while on vacation.
