Bejeweled Days

Every season new trends hit the store, and while I’d like to stock up on a number of them, my lack of closet space keeps me from indulging. For the most part I stick to classic pieces that I can wear and re-wear no matter the current trends. One area where I give myself some leeway is jewelry. I’ll buy a new piece or two per season to give my classic pieces a trendy twist.
Ariadne Warrior Bib necklace, ASOS sweatshirt, vintage cutoffs, and Adidas Superstar sneakers
Last spring I spotted a statement necklace on Baublebar that caught my eye. Baublebar must have known I liked it because it littered my Facebook and Instagram newsfeed. However, its $64 pricetag deterred me from doing anything more than staring at it longingly, but over Labor Day weekend it went on sale for $24! Here you go Baublebar, take my credit card.
Make a statement necklace pop by pairing it with neutrals
It arrived a few days later and I immediately threw it on with jeans and tee, but I vowed to wear it for both weekends and work. On weekends I like my jewelry to stand out and make a statement (statement necklace, duh) so I paired it with a neutral sweatshirt, my go to cutoffs, and Adidas sneakers. I wanted to dress up my weekend uniform and this necklace was the perfect addition.
Pair a statement necklace with bold prints for an office appropriate look
While at work I like my jewelry to complement an outfit without distracting from it so I wore it with a black pencil skirt, striped shirt, and leopard print heels. Initially, I worried it was too much, but I received complements on the outfit and necklace. Mission accomplished.
My new favorite piece
If you want to add a trendy piece to your wardrobe, I recommend a statement necklace. They take up minimal space and are more versatile than you’d think. Mine is still on sale at baublebar.com along with some other fun pieces. Baublebar, take my credit card again.
