Shorts are reserved for weekends and holidays.  I find sporting shorts as an adult a tricky business.  Too short flatters very few and is rarely appropriate.  Too long can be potentially equally unflattering and make one look frumpy.  However, when you can find that perfect balance between lengths, it can open up the possibilities for your wardrobe.

This past weekend yielded warm, sunny weather in Munich, allowing for long strolls through the area of town we live in.  It was the perfect opportunity to sport these light pink shorts Claire gifted me (purchased at Old Navy.)  The color chosen for shorts can be just as important as length.  If you're like me and don't care for denim shorts, don't fear!  There are plenty of options out there, like these light pink cotton alternatives.

I paired the shorts with a navy and white striped t-shirt from Muji.  This color combination is one of my all-time favorites: navy, pink and white.  I inadvertently wear these three colors more often than I realize.  As I write this I realize my 8 month old daughter is currently wearing these three colors as well.  Having such a classic combination while wearing shorts helps get rid of the stigma that shorts need to be denim and should be worn only by those under 20.

This preppy combination doesn't have to break the bank.  Particularly for the type of clothing that has a relatively "short" season, it doesn't make sense to spend a lot of money when you might only wear it a few times a month.
