Stylish Work Attire: It's in the Details

Last week Hilary wrote about an adorable maternity top our mom got for her at ASOS. When I first saw her wear it during her visit last month, I thought "I have to have it! Too bad I'm not pregnant." Luckily for me, ASOS carries a number of maternity pieces in regular sizes and vice versa, so I was able to snag it for myself.
Ann Taylor skirt and blazer, ASOS tank, and Vince Camuto sandals.
As I anxiously awaited its arrival last week, I imagined myself styling it for work as opposed to leisure, pairing it with pencil skirts and ankle pants as opposed to denim and sandals.
Lace insert and a pearl pendant add feminine detail to this 9-5 ensemble
I spend the majority of my time in and out of court, meeting with clients, and negotiating with prosecutors. These responsibilities call for a conservative wardrobe, but I like to add subtle details that allow my personality to shine through.
Work wear can be dull...it's nice to have a fashionable secret underneath a conservative blazer.
Aside from the occasional lace tank, I rely heavily on accessories to brighten up my work wardrobe. Most days I stick to mix and match suit pieces but will incorporate a bold tote and a fun pair of shoes as well.
Perforated, block heeled sandals and a Rebecca Minkoff tote give this look a modern vibe.
